For snorkeling and diving in Sosúa, Dominican Republic, the best time of year is generally:
🌞 Late spring through early fall (May–September)
The water is warm (around 80–84°F / 27–29°C).
Visibility is usually excellent—often 60–100 ft (18–30 m).
Seas are calm, making conditions ideal for snorkeling and diving around Sosúa Bay.
🍂 Winter months (December–March) are still good, but:
The water is slightly cooler (around 76–78°F / 24–26°C).
Winds from the Atlantic can bring choppier surface conditions, especially in the afternoons.
☀️ Sweet spot: If you want the best combination of calm seas, clear water, and warm weather, plan your visit for June–August.

Deposits are non refundable unless Dive Cabarete cancels your tour. The only reason that we would cancel is due to weather or bad sea conditions. Your safety comes first. If we cancel a trip due to weather or sea conditions, you will receive a full refund or be offered the option to reschedule.
The peak hurricane months are August, September, and October. Direct hits are rare in the Dominican Republic, but tropical storms can bring rain and choppy water, which may cancel diving/snorkel trips. Sosúa is on the north coast, which can get rough seas and stronger winds during storms. However, Sosúa Bay is naturally sheltered, so it’s often calmer than the open ocean. Your safety is our top priority. If conditions aren’t safe, tours will be canceled or rescheduled and you will be refunded your deposit.
Tipping is not mandatory, however our team is happy to receive recognition for their work, A few dollars goes a long way and can make the staff feel appreciated for their hard work. Tipping is customary for tour guides and boat crews who provide a safe and enjoyable experience, but ultimately, the amount is optional and depends on your satisfaction with the service. Consider tipping 15-20% of the total tour cost if the service was excellent.
